Le World Padel Tour, the professional padel circuit, will offer streaming this year in Spanish, but also in English !
This is very good news for our sport which is developing all over the world.
WPT's response to its critics
For many years, many padel fans and actors have criticized this “curiosity” to see the World Padel Tour only broadcast in Spanish.
Fabrice Pastor, the founder of the American Padel Tour had several times criticized this “strangeness" in this "professional circuit that says they want to develop padel"
The WPT seemed almost forced to offer streaming in English on its official channel because it has seen for several years a global padel boom. If this professional circuit wishes to remain the reference circuit in the world, she had no other choice than to do so.
And so it does so in 2020.
Farewell Mauri Andrini, place for Robert Dunne
Irish journalist Robert Dunne will therefore be the one to host the streaming in English. Dunne is no stranger as he has accumulated experience both in the print media and in the dissemination of major events. Padel's new voice in English was also editor and translator at Diario AS. Narrator on ESPN, covering sports such as football, American football, baseball, basketball and tennis. She is also one of the voices of Real Madrid TV.
We are necessarily thinking of Mauri Andrini, one of those who proposed streaming in English on the World Padel Tour chain a few years ago before the WPT backtracked.
English from Marbella
English streaming starts from the Marbella Master 2020.
The circuit is equipped with a more effective tool to extend and distribute Word Padel Tour with the second most spoken language in the world and the first for commercial use.
If this is not the first time that the WPT offers English in its broadcasts, it will be the first time in the history of this sport, that a professional padel circuit will broadcast in English all the major events of padel over a full season. Another historic step for the World Padel Tour.
French at the WPT?
We are not going to lie to you: It is not on the agenda. The International Director of the World Padel Tour, Hernan Bebe Auguste had also clearly told us this directly during the Challenger at Casa Padel. The reasons are obviously financial, but francophone fans still have to increase for there to be any real interest.
Franck Binisti discovers the padel at the Pyramid Club in 2009 in the Paris region. Since then padel is part of his life. You often see him touring France by going to cover the big French paddle events.
