Benjamin Tison is the best player in the history of padel French. Padel Magazine interviews the Francilien, who confides in his season, on the Dubai World Cup, and on the many comments received on social networks.

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: What do you think of the organization of the World Cup here in Dubai?

Benjamin Tison :“I think it's impossible to do better in terms of organization because the hotel is stuck to the grounds, with the village and the restaurants. It's completely amazing.”

A problem in France on the mentality

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Thomas Leygue told me that he received many messages on social networks. Do you also feel this fervor padel going up to France, and the enthusiasm behind the French team?

Benjamin Tison :" Yes, more and more. Everything is much more commented. It has great sides because people support us. But there is also the negative side of people who will comment without really knowing too much. I saw some killer comments on the last female pair that played. People judge without knowing. I saw comments saying that we didn't respect the Belgian team because we jumped on each other at the end of the match. We directly said “let’s shake hands with the Belgian players”. For example, Portugal even cheered on double faults against Brazil.

"I think we have a problem in France on the mentality because we always have to comment. I also saw comments from Belgians, but they should take it as a sign of respect. If we encourage ourselves so much against them, it is because we think that it is such a great nation of padel that we. And against Spain, we have the same attitude. Criticism can be good, but there is no need to judge people. I've seen things that go way too far. We have to keep the beauty of the sport.”

An exceptional year

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: Let's talk about your season on the WPT / Premier Padel. The separation with Teo Zapata did not necessarily do you good!

Benjamin Tison : “When you interviewed me right after the separation I told you :”Last year it was not too successful for us the separation, I hope it will be different this year.” I think it was even worse for him. We, with Martin, nevertheless made a painting. We started rather well, then we had a slack after two, three tournaments. The truth is that I think I'm very tired from this season. I don't think I was at my best level over this period, and especially during the French championships. I still found some resources with the France team.

“I had an exceptional year with seven paintings this season. I gave everything. I'm going to hang on for what's left of the season, but I must admit that I can't wait for it to end. But hey, I'm not to be pitied, I'm very lucky to live from my passion.”

New partners

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: With which partner will you end the season?

Benjamin Tison : “In Malmo I am with Cristobal Garcia. And both Premier Padel, I will play them with Facundo Dominguez, he is a guy I like.”

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: For 2023, are you setting up a project?

Benjamin Tison :“It's in the pipes. I thought I would wait until the end of the year, but a lot of players called me. So I'm seeing because the changes are happening now. I talk about it a lot with my coaches. I also wait a bit because there is uncertainty about the circuits. I may stop the World Padel Tour and that I only do the Premier Padel and FIPs. Everything will be decided between November and December. I will set up a project at this time.”

A project without the WPT?

Lorenzo Lecci Lopez: According to you, it is possible to build a season by only going to the Premier Padel and on the FIP Tour?

Benjamin Tison : "If the World Padel Tour continue, there will be no more Premier Padel. To date, there are eight WPTs that count in the FIP rankings. Next year there won't be. I, who don't have a contract, will have no interest in continuing on the WPT. But meetings are made, because in order not to harm players who only play on the WPT, they may recount a little with the WPT points. Based on that decision, I will choose what I do next year.”
