For more than three years, the players of padel from the south of Alsace are impatiently awaiting the construction of the largest association club in the region: an isolated room, entirely dedicated to padel, with four fields allowing exits, and up to 10 meters of ceiling.

This beautiful project is supported by the leaders of the Wittelsheim tennis club, who convinced the municipality but also the communities to promote sport by focusing on the padel.

A land for 77 inhabitants

The Haut-Rhin is indeed suffering from a glaring lack of land padel : there are only two private structures in this department with a total of 10 tennis courts and three tennis clubs, each of which has built a tennis court. That is XNUMX lands of padel for 770 inhabitants: this is slightly more than half the ratio for the whole of France and 000 times less than in Italy.

An online petition

However, this project is currently delayed and sees its funding threatened, particularly in relation to galloping inflation. The overall envelope is around one million euros, mainly financed by the City, the European Community of Alsace, the Grand Est Region, the National Sports Agency and the FFT.
Faced with these concerns, a petition has been launched among players in the region, who are waiting firmly to be able to play there, take lessons and participate in competitions there.
