Last season, the absence of professional players on the Premier Padel was debated. They have since created their own association. Focus on the International Women's Players Association Padel.

Go in the same direction as men

International Padel Players Association or IPPA is the International Association of Players of Padel. Created last February, this organization aims to meet the needs of players but above all to defend their rights internationally according to Article 2 of the statutes of the association.

Chronologically, we can see that the birth of the IPPA arrived following the creation of the new circuit Premier Padel financed by the Qatari investment fund. Like men, professional female players have decided to create their own union to defend their interests with a single watchword: to be able to assert their rights more easily.

For the first edition of the new official circuit of the FIP, the men were present, but not the women. For the moment, they have not managed to find an agreement with the leaders of the new circuit, but it seems that the situation is changing...

An association independent from that of the players (PPA)

“The association is not linked to that of the players. We are nearly 100 players, from n°1 to pre-previa players. The goal is to be united and united in future decisions”, explained one of the players to Padel Magazine last year. Today, the IPPA is represented by some of the greatest players on the world circuit:

  • Lucia Sainz: President
  • Gemma Triay: Vice President
  • Nuria Rodriguez: Secretary
  • Marta Talavan: Treasurer
  • Delfi Brea, Patricia Llaguno, Alejandra Salazar: Spokespersons

The desire of all these women is clear: to develop the future of padel female. For the past year, the organization has been negotiating with the authorities of the padel worldwide and fight for equality between male and female players.

Negotiations that bear fruit

Recently our colleague Alberto Bote suggested on Twitter that there would be a possibility that women are part of the first tournament of the season of the Premier Padel in Qatar, which will take place from February 26 to March 5.

Otherwise, the rapprochement between the WPT and the Premier Padel has been praised by the players' association : " We consider that to bring the padel at the highest level, it is necessary and essential to collaborate in order to obtain its international expansion and its rapid recognition as an Olympic sport ».

Vincent Gallie

A fan of oval football, round ball but also racket sports, he was stung by the padel during his adolescence in Galicia. As comfortable in front of the camera as behind a microphone, Vince will be able to bring his vision and expertise as a fan of the little yellow ball.
