All eyes were on the men's final in Amsterdam, marking the sixth showdown between Federico Chingotto/Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno/Franco Stupaczuk. The Argentines won the match in three sets: 4/6, 6/2, 6/2 in 1 hour and 51 minutes of play.

The superpibes, in the race for first place in the world, had every interest in winning in the Netherlands to get back on Coello and Tapia, prematurely eliminated from the tournament. But opposite them were Fede Chingotto and Paco Navarro, looking for their first title. It was an even more special challenge for Federico Chingotto, who had only won one tournament in his career on the World Padel Tour…without even playing the final. It was in 2020, when he was associated with Juan Tello. At the time, the Argentine pair had benefited from the abandonment of Pablo Lima and a certain Paquito Navarro.

Paquito, the man who saw everything… before anyone else

Paquito Navarro and Federico Chingotto got into their game very well, with a lot of dazzlingness and strokes of genius. Their game is in place and they are explosive from the first points. If they still erase a break point on their first service game, they appear more dominant. They get the first break of the match and lead 4-1 after 25 minutes.

The power of Paquito Navarro is one of the keys to this first round. It surprises with the quality of its bajadas, whether they are forehand or backhand. Even Franco Stupaczuk, very solid at the net, is completely destabilized by Paco's shot quality.

It will take poor play from Chingotto – with no less than 3 unforced errors – to restart the superpibes in this part. But what a reaction from Navarro/Chingotto who won the set on Martin Di Nenno's serve. This new break allows them to win the first round, 6/4 and slowly getting closer to a first title as a pair.

PAQUITO NAVARRO AMSTERDAM OPEN

The Stupaczuk and Di Nenno diesels

The exchanges are balanced between the two teams at the start of the second round. Each server maintains its commitment until the fifth game. We notice that Paquito Navarro seems a little more fragile physically. It seems less stable on its supports. It is precisely at this moment that Di Nenno and Stupaczuk manage to make a break to take the advantage, by chaining ten consecutive points: 3-2.

The series of losses continues for Chingotto and Navarro, although they started the match well. Franco and Martin intensify the pace of the game and completely disrupt their opponents. We see less movement from Paquito – even if he is not known to be the fastest player on the court – and the superpibes exploit every opportunity to widen the gap.

Still in great shape, Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno won five games in a row in this second round, taking Federico Chingotto and Paquito Navarro with them. 28 minutes later, the Argentine pair won 6/2. As usual, the superpibes needed a set to fully enter the game.

FRANCO STUPACZUK AMSTERDAM OPEN

A real demonstration

It was necessary to break the spiral for Paquito Navarro and Federico Chingotto in this decisive round. Badly in their service game, they managed to stay in the match and put an end to the current series of superpibes to the delight of the spectators who came in large numbers to the Amsterdam hall to witness this final.

Broken again in the third game of this decisive round, Chingotto and Navarro seem to be going through a moment of doubt. On the bench, we can read all of Paco's distress. He asks his coach, Gaby Reca, what he should do. To which the tactician responds in the simplest way possible: “we must learn to suffer” and to be “more courageous” in strikes.

Unfortunately, although one can feel that Paco and Fede are trying to add a little more intensity to their strikes and try more spectacular shots, success does not accompany them. In particular, they come up against a real Argentine wall: Martin Di Nenno.

This last set was truly one-sided. Stupaczuk/Di Nenno took the deciding set, winning 6/2.

It was his brother who one day told him to accompany him on a track. padel, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the broadcast of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
