This Sunday morning we had the right to the shock of the titans on the side of Menorca. On one side, we found the new numbers 1 Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria and on the other, the ex-taulières Alejandra Salazar and Gemma Triay.

The four best players in the world met in the final to the 12th time this year. Although they lost their throne a few weeks ago, Salazar and Triay have returned since their impressive victory in Santander and they had every intention of continuing on the Balearic Islands.

Rocket start for numbers 2

No observation round for Gemma Triay! Accompanied by her faithful partner, the native of Menorca immediately took matters into her own hands. Both players smothered their rivals with very aggressive play. On her right side, Alejandra controlled her diagonal and managed to impose her rhythm. Decisive on the left, Gemma Triay finished the job.

The games in their favor followed one another and it was only after a severe 5/0 that the numbers 1 managed to save the honor. A game for confidence because the latter were totally crushed by the steamroller they had in front of them. The Madrilenian and her teammate won the first set 6/1, leaving Josémaria and Sanchez totally stunned.

A fierce battle

The second round started differently and we could finally see a renewed vitality in Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria. Stung to the quick, the players of Gustavo Pratto did not intend to let themselves be mistreated as at the start of the meeting.

Much more balanced, this second set offered us an incredible show between two pairs that went blow for blow. Slightly taking the advantage at the start of the round, the Catalan and her partner failed to take advantage of the breach offered to them. Solid and tenacious, the world number 2 managed to regain the advantage and win in two sets, thus allowing the native of Mahon to bring home the cup!

Final score: 6/1 - 7/5

As said before, it was the 12th confrontation between these two pairs and it was Salazar and Triay who won their 8th victory over their great rivals of the season. Are we witnessing the great return of the “Triazar” team?

Make way for the gentlemen now with an unprecedented final between Juan Lebron – Alejandro Galan and Francisco Gil and Ramiro Moyano
