Nine pairs out of 27 are absent from the WPT Paraguay Open 2023 men's main draw, i.e. one third of the pairs initially listed. This forces the organizers to seek out many lucky losers. In total, we will thus have five pairs fished out who will play 16th.

This is certainly a historic defection for the circuit. This remains to be confirmed with supporting figures, but it seems that never before have so many defections been noted in a main draw. One thing is certain: there are not only wounded or sick in the lot of absentees.

We will see if the WPT opens an investigation on the subject or if the circuit will pass. After all the controversy, the scandals of this South American tour, the positioning of the World Padel Tour is not obvious even if the circuit also pays for certain past actions.

9 missing pairs:

  • Paquito/Tello
  • Bela / Sanyo
  • Maxi Sanchez / Campagnolo
  • Leal/Sanz
  • Coki/Lima
  • Moyano/Gil
  • Bergamini/Ruiz
  • Ruiz/Rico
  • Benitez/Del Castillo

For Ramiro Moyano, his high temperatures prevent him from being at 100%, condemning his partner Gil at the same time.

5 pairs fished out:

  • Valdes/Dominguez
  • Mourino/López
  • Libaak/Augsburger
  • Castillo/Bressel
  • Gamondi/San Juan

For Libaak / Augsburgers, well-known players from the A1 circuit Padel, it will be a last association before everyone plays with other more experienced players.
