As we witness today the kick-off of the world championships of padel 2022 from Dubai, another competition is in full swing more than 6 kilometers away.

It is the small town of Torrent, in the region of Valencia, which is hosting the fifth Challenger of the season this week. It will be for spectators to see totally new pairs evolve on the 20×10 during a tournament.

Indeed, following the appointment of certain athletes in the national team, a good number of players saw themselves without partners for this meeting. We therefore find in the list of registered pairs never before seen for some.

In the men

Among the gentlemen, for example, we have a 100% Argentinian duo who will start in the 1/8th round and who will certainly delight the public present, Miguel Lamperti – Lucho Capra.

Another pair that could well thwart the plans of some players, the pair Jon Sanz – Jorge (Coki) Nieto. The two Spaniards will enter the track this Thursday in 1/8th and will face the winners of the match between Ivan Ramirez – Raul Marcos and Nicolas Suescun – Matias Diaz. You will have read it correctly, this tournament marks the return of Mati Diaz who, let's remember, has not trod the tracks of padel competing since last April in Alicante. We can't wait to see how the return of the "Warrior" plays out.

In the ladies

On the women's side we also find novelties such as the association between Victoria Iglesias and Jessica Castello. The usual partner of Alix Collombon will also start the competition from the 1/8th finals this Thursday.

Marta Marrero meanwhile, she will team up with the 16-year-old Spaniard Claudia fernandez.

Finally Patty Llaguno unites with Marta Talavan and by her side she will do everything to reach the top step of the podium, she who, as a reminder, lost in the semi-finals during the last Challenger Aragon with Virginia Riera (who currently represents Argentina in the United Arab Emirates).

You will find just below the tables of the competition:
