Le World Padel Tour resumes competition this June. A completely different year 2020 which receives a new ranking.

We were talking about it a little while ago, it's now official: le World Padel Tour will join a Race in 2020 ! In order not to offend anyone, and in view of the very complicated conditions that we are going through, the WPT has decided to put the year 2020 in brackets regarding the ranking of players.

We all know that the players are very straddling the points and their ranking. In order to be as fair as possible with them, the WPT therefore launches the “RACE WPT”, an intermediate classification which will end at the end of 2020 and whose primary objective will be to determine the best female and male pairs in December for the Final Master.

This “RACE WPT by Cupra” will simply be the sum of the points of the tournaments disputed in 2020, with a little peculiarity : if 10 or more tournaments are contested, the two worst results will be removed for all players who could be affected by Covid-19 (player positive for coronavirus, or whose spouse is affected, or unable to travel etc.). On the other hand, if less than ten tournaments take place, then only the worst result can be withdrawn.

Regarding the draw of tables, for the first tournament, the frozen ranking will be used, and for the following, a virtual classification, integrating the results of last year and those of the current year, will determine the top seeds.
