Year 2019 will remain historic for racket sports in Spain : le padel overtook tennis in number of licensees with more than 74 players, almost twice as much as in 2012. Its exponential growth is not without consequences for other racket sports, tennis in particular, which is experiencing a consequent recession : only 71 licensees in 000 and a constant loss of its number of players since 2006.

Several factors, notably related to the character very attractive of this sport for amateur practice, explain this phenomenon.

We are thus starting a study on the padel in 2019 with this introduction before the various analyzes of the journalist, passionate and expert, Lorenzo Lecci Lopez.

Le padel : Global expansion

This sport, barely fifty years old, began its global expansion, thus competing with the historic reign of tennis in the racquet sports. With Hispanic roots, the padel is mainly present in countries where Spanish is spoken, but it is tending to become universal and spread across the globe.

Initially, world development goes through the regions in which the Hispanic population is established: throughout Latin America, in the American states with a large Latin population (Florida, California, Texas). France sees the courts of padel appear on its territory from the South, but this appearance is slow: almost everything remains to be done.

A study on the development of padel

The interest of this study will be to understand how the padel could it develop in France. It is necessary to study the development process that has taken place in Spain and in the world throughout the history of this sport, as well as the current state of the situation in France.

In this way, the establishment of several hypotheses for the development of the padel will be possible, in order to propose an axis that would allow the padel on the front of the French sports scene. The padel is under the tutelage of the FFT, an indisputable economic power.

However, this situation does not benefit all stakeholders in the padel French. Indeed, through the development of padel, the FFT defends the interests of its institution and its sport: the stakes may, according to some actors, diverge from the pure interests of the padel, to the point the association of clubs of padel grouping together private clubs was born during COVID-19.

From his names, we can guess his Spanish and Italian origins. Lorenzo is a multilingual passionate about sports: journalism by vocation and events by worship are his two legs.
