Le padel in Great Britain will experience quite a boost in the next two years! Now managed by the Lawn Tennis Association, the padel should see its number of lands quintuple by 2023.

400 courts in 2023!

here's one partnership which quickly pays off! In May 2019, the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) has integrated the padel within his organization. The goal was simple: develop the practice and reach new audiences through a five-year plan. The figures achieved in Spain have given British leaders mouth watering. The institution has detected immense potential and thus wishes to build brand new courts.

So far, Great Britain has only 82 pitches. The short-term ambition is to offer current and future licensees who will be more attracted to the padel than tennis, a total of 400 tracks by 2023. Scott Lloyd, general manager of the LTA, made no secret of his enthusiasm: “One of the keys to our strategy is to find new ways to increase the number of practitioners. The padel is an innovative format of tennis: it's fun, adaptable and easy to play ”.

Shock ambassadors

In order to promote the padel, Great Britain can count on two media ambassadors. Former double number 1, jamie murray, brother of Andy, love it padel : “I've played there a lot in recent years and I think it's a great sport, he explained to Inside the game. It's very social, you can play it with friends, family, regardless of age and ability. This is a great advantage for clubs in order to motivate their current members and attract new ones ”.

Nigel Huddleston, the Minister of Sports, also praised the practice of padel and he seems to have enjoyed his initiation: “I value initiatives that encourage the development of sports, particularly focused on the creation of courts so that people can play. I recommend everyone to try it because it's fun, friendly, dynamic and everyone can play it ”.

With such an institutional and political promotion campaign, the padel on the other side of the Channel has undoubtedly initiated the first major step padel.
