All competitors of padel know the P100 tournaments. There are age-inclusive variants like the P100 45+, etc. But Fred and Jérôme, the 2 organizers of the Tennis Club of Luy du Bearn (64) had the absurd idea of organizing a “P100 kilos”!

The principle was simple: only teams weighing 200kg together could take part in the event.

This is how on December 3, 9 teams from Pau and the surrounding area presented themselves at the club house of Serres-Castet. Accompanied by the famous music from the film “Rocky”, each pair climbed onto the scale with display screen, graciously lent by an industrial weighing company, to ensure that the count was there. In the end, the figures displayed varied between 203 and 230 kg.

Under the eyes of the public who had come to encourage these strong fellows, the fierce and good level games began in the form of chickens, but the long-awaited moment was the “sporty” meal at noon: entrecôte / fries – cheese – pie.

At the end of the feast, some players offered a little "pick-up" to all the competitors in view of the final stages of the afternoon.

Shortly after 14 p.m., the competition resumed its rights with additional difficulties at the physical level, but that did not prevent the smiles from remaining frozen on the faces of these giants of the padel.

After a final between the two "lightest" teams in the tournament (chance or coincidence), a ranking was established, but the interest for the players was elsewhere: to have been able to practice their passion while having fun. During the awards ceremony, everyone received their “survival kit”: wine, sausage and cheese.

Everyone then met around an aperitif offered by the club, and the tournament ended with a lively evening, embellished with songs as we know so well in Béarn.

To continue in the spirit, the TCLB club represented by its president Fred d'Argoubet donated a large part of the receipts for the benefit of the Telethon.

Given the success of this first edition, there is no doubt that there will be others with improvements, such as the breakfast omelet unanimously requested by the participants!

In conclusion, with this initiative, the Tennis Club Du Luy du Bearn has proven, if it were still needed, that the padel is a very user-friendly sport that can be practiced by everyone… even if you are not a regular at the gym!
