Big sensation on the Cape side where Andres Britos and Maxi Sanchez Blasco inflicted on the Spaniards their first defeat on the Fabrice Pastor circuit! Like yesterday, Pincho Fernandez and José Antonio Diestro were forced to play a tie-break in the third set, but this time it was not in their favor.

However, after a very tight first set finally won by the Argentine pair, the Spaniards had worked hard, offering themselves the second set 6/1 and leading 5/2 in the last act. They even managed to afford a match point on a point where Britos hurt his thigh a little and seemed set for another victory.

But it was without counting on the hearts of the Argentinians who gave everything to come back to the score, and even pass in front. This match deserved a decisive game, which finally turned in favor of Sanchez and Britos, on a recovery of the latter to the millimeter. Diestro and Fernandez announced the foul ball but it was very good and it offered the seeded 5 a real reference victory, with in particular an exceptional end to the match from the native of San Carlos de Bolivar. The Argentinians therefore validate their ticket for the semi-finals and will meet Juani De Pascual and Gonzalo Alfonso tomorrow, in a match that also smells of powder!

As you can see below, in the other encounters the favorites got the job done, each time winning in straight sets:

  • Germani/Aguirre (TS2) vs Chozas/Oliveira (TS6) 6 / 1 6 / 3
  • Barrera/Del Moral (TS7) vs. Martinez/Zuazua 6 / 4 6 / 2
  • By Pascual/Alfonso (TS3) vs. Torre/Ramos (TS8) 6 / 4 6 / 3
