The French Tennis Federation already has its mind turned towards 2023 and in particular the second edition of the Greenweez Paris Premier Padel Major (G3PM).

If the official date of the 2023 edition is not yet known due to the great instability that exists between the professional circuits, we know one thing: the FFT hopes that this time, it will succeed in highlighting one way or another the padel female professional.

But nothing is less certain. In the current context, the Association of Professional Players has not yet signed with Premier Padel. And "she remains reluctant to try the adventure as with the gentlemen in this new professional circuit governed by the International Federation of padel” explains the director of the G3PM, Arnaud Di Pasquale.

The French number 1, Alix Collombon, did not hide her “disappointment at not being able to play at Roland-Garros during this first edition because of the circuit war".

Disappointment and certainly frustration of some players who nevertheless hoped to participate in the first edition. Indeed, the FFT, through the voice of its president, Gilles Moretton, had announced the color for the first edition of the G3PM, stating that “an exhibition of padel ladies in the form of a competition with a prize-money should take place alongside the tournament gentlemen".

The FFT bet seemed to be won. The players were delighted. The organizers ready…except…”a few days before the start of the competition, I received an email from the president of the Players' Association, who finally told me with regret that the players had to decline the invitation“, tells us Arnaud Di Pasquale.

Disappointment on the players' side as for the FFT which hoped to be able to offer a first ladies' event indirectly via and with Premier Padel and the FIP.

Arnaud Di Pasquale continues: “Sixteen pairs were planned for this exhibition. We can imagine the disappointment of these players not being able to play at Roland-Garros".

There are 2 options: “Either the players finally join the professional circuit Premier Padel and in this case, there will be no more debates. Either, the association of players does not sign, and then, the FFT will make a new proposal in order to offer a beautiful exhibition ladies during this G3PM 2023".

In December, many things can move quickly. Case to follow.
