Fernando Belasteguin will not be able to play the final of the Open Valladolid 2017. The fault of a right knee injury which declared itself during its semi-final.

This is the second time that King Bela has been injured. In view of his incredible career and the efforts made every year, the Federer of padel has been relatively well preserved thanks to in-depth and regular work.

Bela doesn't want to take the slightest risk. He prefers to avoid playing the final and mortgage a few weeks of padel than being stopped for a very long time.

To our colleagues from Padel World Presse, Bela revealed that during his semi-final, he already felt the evil harden:

The inside of my right knee was overloaded. At the end of the match, I felt a bit of pressure in this area. At the time, I thought it was not much and that it would pass. After the game, I went to the physiotherapist and took anti-inflammatory drugs.

I was hoping things would turn out well. And at that time, playing the final in Valladolid was still the goal. Except that the pains were more numerous thereafter.

I had a very bad night. My knee hit the bed lightly and the pain kicked in. The pain was significant. I had difficulty walking. Something was wrong.

After so many years on the circuit, we know our body and we feel that it will be difficult to ensure on the ground.

However, I had my breakfast and then went to the Racquet Club in Valladolid to warm up and especially to see what was possible or not with this knee.

At 9:30 am, I informed the World Padel Tour who sent me a doctor. It was clear: Forced rest before doing more review. I was not able to participate in this final.

It's terrible, because I always want to play. Whether it's an exhibition or a match and even more a test, it's terrible to forfeit a final.

But this package is essential to avoid me being stopped for several months because the ligaments seem to be affected.

There are still a lot of tournaments this season. It is safer not to play for King Bela. This is the second time in his career that he forfeited a final of an event. Obviously “the decision not to play is hard, but it is a necessity”He explains to us.

He concludes : "When the body asks you to stop, you must listen to it".

Hope he comes back soon!
