There may be nothing more frustrating, as an athlete, than losing places in the ranking due to injury especially ?

Fortunately, the French Tennis Federation has set up a ranking blocking system, to allow certain players not to fall too far.

Be careful, not everyone can benefit from it! In fact, there is only two specific cases where players can appeal to this rule.

Maternity

A measure 100% dedicated to players and which pleases: a blockage due to maternity. Of course, you will have to meet a condition to be able to benefit from it: no match must have been played between the end of the period of 5 months of stopping and demand.

The blocked ranking will be the last ranking published following the last tournament played by the player. It will benefit from this blocked classification for its Top 10 tournaments et for a maximum period of six months after the first tournament played!

Léa Godallier may request, at the end of her maternity leave, a blocking of her ranking and therefore, keep her place as French number 2.

Serious injuries and illness

Players ranked in the Top 500, as well as the players classified in the Top 200 in the FFT Ranking who, for health reasons, have not been able to participate in competitions for at least five consecutive months over the last twelve months, will be able to benefit from a measure blocking their ranking.

We think in particular of Marie-Amelie Dardaine, anterior cruciate ligament surgery which, if it does not return within the next four months, will be able to call on this blocking.

Just like motherhood, no matches must not have been disputed between the end of the five-month shutdown period and the request. The blocked ranking will be the last ranking published following the last tournament played by the player. The player will benefit from this blocked ranking for his first ten tournaments and for a maximum period of six months after the first tournament played.

Gwenaelle Souyri

It was his brother who one day told him to accompany him on a track. padel, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the broadcast of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
