1st set – Clergue and Ligi set the tone for the start

This match, which was presented as THE big poster for the women's semi-finals, started quite surprisingly.

Laura (Clergue) undoubtedly boosted by the particular challenge of the meeting (among the 4 players taking part in the game, she is the only one not to have been selected for the Worlds in Dubai), gave us a real "masterclass ” input. Very fair, not hesitating to take the game on his own when needed, the Aixoise knew how to speak his power on many occasions, completely thwarting the opposition.

The opposition, let's talk about it. Coming in with the number 2 pair status in France this season (behind Alix Collombon and Léa Godallier), Martin and Detriviere knew they would have their work cut out for them today.

Suffocated from the outset by Laura and Fiona, Amélie and Mélissa seemed totally underwater. But the two internationals did not completely give up and even came back into the match at the end of the set by taking the service of their opponents for the first time.

Unfortunately for them, there was still a service to unbreak and the nerves were too strong on the side of Fiona and Laura who knew how to remain calm to keep their face-off and pocket this first set.

2nd set – A great battle..but Fiona and Laura were too strong

The start in this second round was noticeably different. Indeed, we witnessed a real fight with extremely tight points on all sides. The promised battle was finally here.

Improbable defenses, big smashes, exits by 3: this beginning of the second set was a pure delight for the amateurs of padel the fight was so fierce.

Each of the pairs was in their match. However, like in the first run, the tide was shifting towards Laura and Fiona. By their quality in defense and their accuracy, they were able to make the difference against a seeded 5 who began to lose track as soon as his service was lost in the 5th game of this second set.

Solid on their face-offs, Fiona and Ligi knew how to keep a cool head to finish the job behind. A very nice revenge for Laura who will be absent from the Worlds but well present in the final of the French Championships!
