Arnaud Loubic, hardware specialist at Padel Reference, returns to the theme of the choice of racket padel. You will see that it is an essential subject to get started or progress quickly in padel.

The form

First, the shape of the racket. It exists three different shapes : the round shape, the water drop shape and the diamond shape.

The round shape is a racket shape that allows better control and control of the ball with its ideal, widened and centered striking zone.

Then, the water drop shape is a versatile shape that allows for control, but also a little more power with a little more weight in mind.

The diamond shape will give maximum power to the person who is going to use the racket. It is not necessarily recommended for beginners, unlike the round shape which will provide more control.

The weight

A racket padel generally has a weight between 350 and 365 grams. A light racket will therefore be below 350 grams and a heavier racket will be above 370 grams. When you're starting out, we recommend a lighter racket.

It will be more manageable, more flexible and will allow you to focus on technique. If you have a little experience, you can opt for a slightly heavier racket that will give you more power.

The materials

There are mainly two materials for your tennis racket: padel : fiberglass et carbon fiber.

Fiberglass will be a soft and flexible material which will make it possible to provide more comfort in your game while carbon fiber is going to be harder, more resistant but will also provide more power, especially during smashes.

In addition, fiberglass will be favored for people starting out in padel, precisely for this comfort aspect which will allow you to start in good conditions. Carbon fiber, harder and more difficult to handle, will be recommended for people with a minimum of technique and experience.

Last element to consider when choosing your racket: the foam of the racket. There are two, EVA foam et foam foam. On the one hand, the foam will be more flexible and more comfortable. On the other hand, EVA foam will be more rigid, will last longer and will give you more power.

“Weight is one of the most important criteria for us, which is why at PadelReference, we weigh all our rackets. Allowing our customers to choose their own weight is a unique service that we are happy to offer!”
