Laura Clergue and Emilie Loit win the P1000 the Open Padel Arena / Cupra Rouen at the end of a final which lasted just an hour against the number 1 seed of the tournament Alexise Duchêne and Charlyne Tonda.

Behind this score which may seem severe, we were treated to a very good match of padel, perhaps the most successful for both pairs since the start of the competition.

The start of the match was very impressive and the public enjoyed the show.

To the point where some observers already see Emilie Loit, the former tennis champion, in the French team of padel from 2024. Even if for the moment, the Frenchwoman explained to us that she is moving towards the Senior + European/World Championships, we can only see that with such an explosive game and by improving her defense, she could surprise more than one. Especially since a left-hander is a rare commodity among ladies.

The association with Laura Clergue was very good. Opposite, the Parisian pair also had a good tournament. And the final is surely paradoxical because it is also the most successful match of this pair. She also won points this weekend, even if we will have to try to gain a little more consistency in this type of matches.

As we can see, Duchêne / Tonda lacked efficiency. With a break point converted out of 8 possibilities: at the end of the match, it pays dearly.

The Clergue / Loit pair made a strong impression, and there is no doubt that we will see them together again in future tournaments.

Finally, as always, the organizers of Padel Arena pulled out all the stops and made this competition is an annual event that is a bit different in the national calendar.

However, we would have liked that with a P1000 of this quality, there were more top players, especially with this doubled prize money. A subject to which we will return in a future column.
