It's the biggest meeting of the year on the French circuit: the French Championships begin this Friday at 4Padel Toulouse-Colomiers. We take stock of the forces present.
Women
Among the girls, barring injury or a huge surprise, Alix Collombon and Léa Godallier should lift their third French Champion title together this Sunday. Indeed, those who are respectively in 21st and 46th place in the FIP ranking have several steps ahead in France and it is difficult to see who could beat them.
Behind them, however, the fight promises to be very interesting. At the forefront, we will of course find Pothier/Ginier, the only pair to have taken a set from Collombon/Godallier in France, but also Soubrié/Touly, the pair crowned at the P2000 in Toulouse-Colomiers. In conditions that they appreciate, Charlotte and Carla, who benefit from a wild card, will be among the most dangerous duos in Occitanie.
The Clergue/Ligi, Invernon/Barsotti, Ros/Lefevre, Phaysouphanh/Dardaine and Bahurel/Martin pairs have already demonstrated that they can be very dangerous. Will they succeed in surprising Toulouse?
gentlemen
Among the men, it also promises to be hot, and at all levels. Sacred last year, Thomas Leygue and Bastien Blanqué, who come from a victory in the P2000 of 4Padel Toulouse-Colomiers, will be the favorites. But if they want to lift the cup once again in Occitanie, Bastien and Thomas will have to play at their best, because behind several pairs are very dangerous.
We of course think of that composed of the best French player Benjamin Tison and the man with whom he played his first French Championship final, Adrien Maigret. Very comfortable in Dubai a year ago, the Ile-de-France residents dream of being crowned together in France.
We will also have to pay attention to the duo formed by Dylan Guichard and Jérémy Scatena, who were full of confidence in Japan in winning the FIP Rise in Chiba.
Behind these three duos which seem the strongest, we will follow several pairs like Seurin/Vives or De Meyer/Vanbauce. The already veterans Le Panse/Trancart and Ferrandez/Lopes will want to show that they still have fuel in the engine.
You have understood, these 2023 French Championships promise to be exciting, at all levels!
