Le FFT Padel Tour 2020 is the second edition of the elite circuit of the French Tennis Federation. Among the novelties: the padel from Thursday to Saturday. Some players are skeptical.

The FFT has indeed indicated that 3 stages of the elite circuit would be offered from Thursday to Saturday. Since then, some players have expressed dissatisfaction as for this organization. In fact, tournaments usually start on Friday at the end of the day and end on Sunday.

3 tests will take place from Thursday to Saturday (including the Master):

  • Thursday 7, Friday 8 and Saturday 9 May: City stage in Metz
  • Thursday 11, Friday 12 and Saturday 13 June: City stage in Pau
  • Thursday 8, Friday 9 and Saturday 10 October: Masters - city stage in Toulon

On therefore 3 tests of the FFT PADEL TOUR, semi-finals and finals will not take place on Sunday, but on Saturdays.

A good thing ?

First, the FFT did not necessarily have a choice. Indeed, it is often the town halls or the regions which require the organizers to free the place on Sunday.

Then, even if this organization may seem incongruous, it would be wise to see if this formula is not more interesting in the long term. Indeed, we observe that Sunday is not necessarily the day where there is the most public. Perhaps this concept of the tournament, which ends on a Saturday, should be given a chance.

The other positive : the players thus return home calmly. And the next day, it's sunday: the possibility for some to stay with family or to do a regional tournament for the most motivated.

Disadvantage : Of course, this famous Thursday ! Poorly ranked players will have to find a little time to come and participate in the group stages. The top seeds will certainly have to come earlier than usual. The organization for players can be very complicated…
