Gilles Moretton a few hours from liberation

Gilles Moreton is preparing to become the new president of the French Tennis Federation and will thus take over from his predecessor: Bernard Giudicelli.

The elective General Assembly of the French Tennis Federation is taking place this Saturday, February 13, 2021 by videoconference due to the health context.

At the end of this meeting, the President of the Federation, the members of the Executive Committee and the Superior Tennis Council as well as the members of the jurisdictional commissions will be elected.

At the end of this assembly, the elected president will hold a video-conference press point. This will take place between 18 and 19 p.m., depending on the end time of the General Assembly.

We will keep you informed of developments. But except for a huge earthquake, Gilles Moretton's lead seems comfortable and he will succeed Bernard Giudicelli.

Operating mode

Indeed, the President of the big league ARA is sure to take over after a complicated campaign, weighed down by the health crisis.

The majority of league delegates and departmental committees are acquired by Gilles Moretton for nearly 60%. They are the ones who vote and who will elect the President of the FFT. The advance is considerable and victory is therefore promised to Moretton.

This American-style system, with these “big voters”, should be completely revised in 4 years to make way for “a real democratic vote”. One of the themes that Gilles Moretton carries loud and clear.

A very rich federation

Admittedly, it is the crisis, but in 2019, the FFT was able to count on a budget of 325 million euros. With the crisis and a Roland Garros which represented more than 250 million euros ... we will have to think and build differently.
