Le padel appeared in France in the early 1990s. The French Federation of padel was created in 1992 by former rugby players from the Paris University Club, including the Baigts brothers. Claude Baigts will be its first president, from 1992 to 2003.

Le padel will find through the Open de France, place du Capitole in Toulouse, an important moment in the development of this sport in France.

In 1997, Patrick tauma, player of the French team living in Paris, managed to convince the Paris Country club to give him a hard tennis court to install the first track in Île-de-France. It will be one of the first panoramic courts mounted in the world. This experiment will be followed by the installation of two tracks of padel at the Aquaboulevard – Porte de Versailles.

Unfortunately, the experience at the Country club only lasts a while since after four months, the ground is dismantled. And the Aquaboulevard will separate from its tracks as well.

The French Federation of padel obtains, however, from the International Federation of padel hosting the world championships in 2000, in Toulouse, on one of the most beautiful squares in the world, the Place du Capitole. A moment that will forever remain in the history of the padel in France.
