The boundaries of this sport are constantly being redefined. A clear example is the installation of a padel court in the Lopez Palace, the sumptuous Presidential Palace of the Paraguayan government in Asuncion, classified as a “Treasure of the Tangible Cultural Heritage of Asuncion”.

Imagine Emmanuel Macron playing padel in his free time at the Élysée Palace with his team. What is fiction in France is now reality in Paraguay.

Santiago Peña, the President of the Republic of Paraguay, is a fervent padel fan, to the point of having a court built within the Presidential Palace. On the occasion of the A1 Padel Asuncion Open, Fabrice Pastor, the CEO of the circuit, as well as Maxi Arce and Franco Dal Bianco, the number ones on the circuit, inaugurated this field in the presence of the president.

More than just a player, Santiago Peña is a true fan of padel. This was evident during the Open that took place this week in Asuncion, where he was present with his team, made up of César Ramírez, the Minister of Sports, Camilo Pérez, the president of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, and Víctor Pecci, National Councilor for Sports, to attend the final.

From a sporting point of view, Juani De Pascual and Gonzalo Alfonso beat the number ones on the circuit, Maxi Arce and Franco Dal Bianco 6/2 6/4. For Alfonso/De Pascual, it is already their third title of the season. They are the only pair who managed, this season, to beat Maxi Arce and Franco Dal Bianco in the final.
