Jérôme Inzerillo, current 7th French player, was present during the Cupra Final Masters Padel-Point Tour. Participating in the P500 of the stage, he agreed to come back with us on his news of the moment.

“French players have improved a lot”

Padel Magazine : The P2000 of Pyramides" just ended, what conclusions can you draw from the competition in general?

Jerome Inzerillo : “The general level was quite interesting. I really liked sharing the track with Johan (Bergeron), it's true that it was the first tournament we played together. Afterwards, on the general level, I find that the French players have progressed a lot: I think it's due to the number of tournaments there are in France… even if there aren't many P2000s.

We did not all find ourselves this year elsewhere on the P2000, except perhaps during that of Padel Horizon. It's a bit of a shame, but it's also due to the busy schedule of the FIP, the WPT, the APT.

It's a good sign if we have the opportunity to play every week anyway."

Padel Magazine : We could see that contentious points were part of the “dramaturgy” of this decisive 3rd round in the final of the P2000 des Pyramides. Looking back, how do you analyze this situation?

Jérôme : “It's part of the game, and it's something that happens in the moment. There is no resentment on my side, afterwards we can have disputes all that… but there is never anything bad. We put the point back, after there were two other contentious points. For me there is no problem, you have to differentiate between what is happening on the field and what is happening outside.

“My comp is Jesús Ruiz”

Padel Magazine : You played alongside Jo Bergeron last week (for the first time). But you also played this season with Jesús Ruiz, Max Moreau, Exequiel Mourino to name a few. Does Jérôme Inzerillo currently have a “registered” compi?

Jérôme : “It will be surprising, but yes I have a titular comp (laughs)! We started the second half of the season with Jesús Ruiz. But the problem is that there are a lot of constraints: you have to have the same schedule, the same desires at the same time, so that's quite complicated. My comp is Jesús, but as soon as he can't I have to find another partner anyway.”

His record for the current season

Padel Magazine : We are passing the mid-season stage, but from your point of view, how do you judge your season so far?

Jérôme : “So yes of course, I have areas for improvement in all areas. In terms of the game, I have a lot of things to work on. Anyway, we always have something to work on. In terms of progression, the idea is to focus on everything that is volleying, defence, etc.

My season, I consider it rather good, after I missed a lot of tournaments: partners who got injured or for example Jesús who planted me on 2-3 super important tournaments.

I think I could have done another season if I had done all these tournaments, especially in terms of ranking: because it makes me lose a lot of points... But hey, I still consider my season to be quite good, I I still made semis, finals, etc. Many good results, even if I missed 2-3 important victories to pass a course.

I hope that at the end of the season it will settle down, and why not go for a title?

With Maxime Forcin during the French championships to “get a good result”

Padel Magazine : You have big deadlines coming up, but I wanted to come back with you to the French championships which are approaching at breakneck speed. With whom are you going to play them? Have you set yourself goals?

Jérôme : “I'm going to play with Maxime Forcin, we qualified for the Normandy league. We started together last year, when he offered me the project. I thought he was playing very well, after that we didn't have the chance to play a lot of tournaments. But we've already won a tournament, we've played well and made good matches... Now, to say that we're going to win the French championships, I'm not sure, but in any case we're going to get a good result, give it your all and then we'll see how it goes."

The French team: “I think I had a good season to be there”

Padel Magazine : The French team, with the worlds at the end of the year, do you think about it?

Jérôme : "I would like ! In the continuity of last year and the good season we had in the France team. It's already been a year, it's the second year… I think I had a good season to be there, after that you never know. There is an internship in 15 days, you will have to be good during this internship, give your all and the choices, it will be up to the coach to make them. But in any case, if he selects me, I will be 200% with the team and behind the team if I don't play. “

Padel Magazine : We know that you are very invested outside the slopes of padel, can you tell us about your news?

Jérôme : “I do a lot of things outside the courts: I have a tennis academy where I train three kids, I might get two more so that means a lot of hours on the court. I give private lessons padel too ; I started a new job as an agent in an agency called K2M: I help players from padel to find sponsoring partners so that they too can leave with something to do in terms of money.

And then we have just opened a website, specializing in the organization of padel abroad with a first internship in December in Marbella. There will be 5 or 6 next year, in places that will change from Spain: perhaps Hungary, Croatia... to develop the padel but also discover new destinations. We don't just do padel during these courses, we discover cities, new cultures, etc.”

The Cupra Padel-Point Tour : “For me the padel, it is this type of event”

Padel Magazine : You took part in the P500 of the final master of this Cupra Padel-Point Tour. Admittedly, today, we find ourselves in an even more beautiful setting than usual, but what does this circuit inspire you?

Jérôme : “I think it's a good thing for the sport and the development of the sport. For amateur players to discover a professional environment, it's really great. I've followed the Tour since the beginning, and I find coming here that there's a good atmosphere, that it's a wonderful way for people to be able to interact with professional players.

For me the padel, it is exactly this type of event. Good humor, friendliness, matches and parties, I find that this social aspect benefits the padel. "

Passionate about football, I discovered the padel in 2019. Since then, it's been crazy love with this sport to the point of abandoning my favorite sport.
