The International Club Cup padel is a great success. This first edition which took place in Malaga will be repeated until 2025 at the Inacua club.

After great victory for Toulouse Padel Club against the Mexican club Key One Team, the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre Prados and the president of the Clubs Association of padel private, Claude Baigts return to this event.

This competition is rooted in the long term

Francisco de la Torre Prados (FTP): For us it is a great chance to host the International Club Cup of padel. Clubs from all over the world gather here in Malaga, where it all started for the padel.

We are proud to be able to host this competition until 2025.

Claude Baigts (BC) : The setting is ideal for us to see this competition develop and take root over time. Malaga is a special city. If we see padel today everywhere in Europe, we must not forget that Malaga planted the first seed. It can be seen: the padel develops on all continents: in Africa, in Europe, in America… We see these players from all over the world compete in conviviality on the tracks of Inacua.

Four continents and 15 countries

CC: It's a great adventure with four continents represented, 15 countries. I admire certain countries like Moldova. More than 35 hours of travel to reach us, what a journey. As we know, there are many constraints in Eastern Europe today. They had to go to Romania by bus. Expect. then finally take a plane to Spain. Kudos to them!

When we see the emulation that there can be in Malaga, we think more and more seriously about launching the International Association of Clubs of padel. I think this association needs to take off.

We can see it in Malaga, there are many subjects on the table. And the development of padel necessarily goes through the clubs. But we must respond to all subjects. I think we are at the start of a great adventure that will help support the development of this sport.

FTP- Malaga is THE land of padel. It is there that the seed germinated and it is what allows us today to have all these nations with us. We intend to work with the organizers until 2025.

Even better with more clubs

CB- There is no doubt that this competition is a great success. Players and clubs are unanimous. But I think we can still do better, we have already targeted a few positions where we will have to offer better.

For next year, we are also thinking about the formula of the competition. Do we have to do two proofs of padel : one with the best teams and another with more modest teams. Indeed, we have seen it, especially in the group stages, we have seen some very good padel, we saw many exchanges. And at the same time, certain differences in levels challenge us. Should the format be changed?

With Pierre Lamouré, we put this theme on the table. And we will need everyone's opinion to know whether or not we should change this formula. We can clearly see that in the group stages, the difference between nation 1 and nation 3 is significant.

But at the same time, this is also the padel, the exchanges. We see players who would never have thought of playing against such teams. Moreover, the system is well built since then, we play the ranking in the table. So inevitably, the levels are balanced and it becomes very interesting for everyone.
