Goodbye football , long live padel  ! The sport invented by Enrique Corcuera is now the most practiced in Madrid, surpassing football...  Historical.  In fact, according to the SPSG Consulting sports habits barometer, the people of Madrid play padel more than football.

In this report, we observe the capacity that padel has had to attract a wide range of people.  17,8%  people from Madrid play padel and  17,5%  football. A real change for the Spanish capital where football has always been the emblematic sport.

This trend proves one thing:  Padel continues to grow in importance , even in Spain. The country is the birthplace of this sport originating in Mexico. It is also on the other side of the Pyrenees that we find the most practitioners. and licensees in the world. Despite this, we see today that  padel   has not yet fully peaked in Spain . The proof with this study which clearly shows the influence that this sport takes on each year.

Furthermore, padel has become much more than a sport for Spain today.  It is also a vector of tourism . How many people go to the country for an advanced training course each year? Enormously. It has even become common for French amateur players to take this kind of trip.

Madrid has allowed players to play in different centers, with new structures, new centers and a constant renewal of the discipline.  It is the first major city where padel has overtaken football  in terms of practitioners.

It remains to be seen whether other Spanish metropolises will experience the same trend... like  Barcelona  for example.
