The championship finals will take place on September 11, 2022 on the two tracks of padel outdoor of the Tennis Club Husen at Parc Hosingen.

Jean-Paul Felgen, President of the Commission for Padel of the FLT : “The holding of this first national championship of padel sponsored by CUPRA was a milestone for the Commission of Padel of the FLT and for the padel in Luxembourg in general. We were positively surprised by the number of registrants and we can't wait to see who will be the first champions of padel from Luxemburg. »

This tournament for players of padel licensed with the FLT and sponsored by CUPRA is already today a great success with 60 registrations, especially considering that the license application padel and registration for the tournament were only possible from July 2022. As is usual in the Grand Duchy, the participants in the championship come from all over the world, namely from Luxembourg, from Spain, France, Belgium, Portugal, but also Argentina, Mexico and Sweden.

Among the participants, there are also former high-level tennis players such as Claudine Schaul (former number 41 of WTA Tennis), but also players from padel high level like Enric Batalla (former number 1 junior of Padel of Catalonia and player + professional coach of Letz Make It Padel).

This will be the perfect time to see matches of padel level in Luxembourg in a perfect setting with a grandstand, catering, exhibition of CUPRA brand cars, parking and in a friendly atmosphere in the north of the Grand Duchy.

The organization of this championship was a very important stage in the action plan of the Commission of Padel of the FLT (created in November 2021 and composed of 6 members with Jean-Paul Felgen as president) for the development of this spectacular sport in the Grand Duchy. As for the whole world, the padel is also experiencing exceptional growth in Luxembourg, which is underlined by 70 licenses padel competitions registered with the FLT since July 2022.

Claude Lamberty, President of the FLT : " The padel, a new pillar of the FLT, is a complementary sport to tennis and an opportunity for tennis clubs to broaden their offer, thus attracting new members and fostering good cohesion within the clubs. The current extraordinary development of padel in Luxembourg is commendable and the FLT encourages tennis clubs to set up tennis courts. padel. "

The next big steps for the padel in Luxembourg will be membership of the International Federation of Padel (FIP) in order to have the Grand Duchy recognized at international level and to facilitate access to FIP competitions for Luxembourg players. Another step will be to further develop the infrastructures of padel with tennis clubs (tracks, coaches, etc.) and develop the padel with young people. In this regard, we will see that in the years to come the number of padel will follow the growing number of practitioners.
