Reflexes at padel, it's almost a hit. The blows are fast, the proximity with your opponents is such that you will need some. Good news ! It is possible to work and get yourself out of situations you never thought you could get out of before. Let’s see this.

Certainly you have already met someone on a field of padel who stays at the net and who manages to get out of complicated situations, especially balls played to the body. Know that you too can get by with a little practice.

A master in the field is the very experienced Argentine player Juan Martin Diaz, nicknamed "the man of the reflexes". JMD has such a keen eye, such technique and long experience that allow him, in addition to his natural gifts, not to back down when he is at the net. Difficult to play when you are at your side and difficult to pass when you are in front.

You will increase your reflexes if:

  • You do not back down
  • You stay on the tip of your feet
  • You stay very active in the legs
  • You keep a maximum contact with the ground
  • You keep your racket in front of you
  • You make the effort to open your eyes
  • You have experience with your partner and you know how he will play the next move

How to work reflexes?

With simple exercises, you can improve your reflexes.

  • You stomp quickly while looking at the ground, your partner screams you "top" and sends you a ball. It's up to you to catch it before the rebound
  • Play the ossicles
  • Practice table tennis. A good complement to make quick decisions
  • Run in nature or in the woods. Practice running in unstable areas will put your senses and responsiveness on the alert
  • Develop your peripheral vision by attaching an object and trying to describe the other objects or colors. This will allow you to fix the ball and find out where opponents or your partner are placed
  • With your coach, stay at the bottom of the field, in the corner, and hit all the balls he will send to you by hand only 2 meters from you. You can complicate with balls thrown with the racket
  • Repetition of gestures is the best way to develop reflexes. Do net sessions where your partner or coach will play a lot of balls on you. Taking the habit of being assaulted will put you at ease during matches.

Here are some videos of exercises and extraordinary gestures made by “cracks of the padel".
