Cancellation of the 1st Open World Padel Tour Belgium. Its President, Vincent Laureyssens, announces very sad but predictable news. “The displacement of the dates of Grand Chelem of Roland Garros due to Covid-19 during our Open and the Covid-19 crisis”Were right about the international tournament.

Vincent Laureyssens, President of World Padel Tour Belgium reconsiders this cancellation:

In consultation with the federations of padel, we inform you of the sad official cancellation of the 1er Open tournament padel counting for the world championship of padel Wordd Padel Tour planned in the former ferry terminal of Tour & Taxis from September 29 to October 4, 2020.

Moving the tournament dates from Grand Chelem of Roland Garros due to Covid-19 during our Open and the Covid-19 crisis wiped out years of work.

“What an immense sadness to have come together very close to the ultimate dream and to have to resign ourselves to canceling our first Open due to an exceptional crisis which has shaken our entire planet. We were going to inaugurate an exceptional indoor venue at Tour & Taxis with the best players from padel of the world for a week with even for the first time, the retransmission of the final live on a major national TV .... It would have been the national and international holiday of padel but the covid-19 caused a tsunami destroying values with the sponsors, the subsidies, the fans,…

But, with our organizing committee and the federations, we are preparing our World Padel Tour 2021 with great humility and prudence. You will learn more in the coming months.

Heureusement, le padel continues has exploded and has more and more clubs and practitioners. We are therefore going to ride this wave and give dreams and emotions to all fans or practitioners of racket / ball sports. "

Most international tournaments in World Padel Tour of 2020 are canceled and the tournaments in Spain will be played behind closed doors from the 1er July. This closed session poses big budgetary problems but gives at least the opportunity for professional players to replay and earn a living. The streaming will broadcast these matches to the whole world and give visibility to the precious sponsors.

"In short, we will come back quickly and stronger 2021-22 and 23, having above all conquered or survived the most serious health crisis of the century".

Thank you all.

The competition will come back stronger next year. See you next year !
