Recently, we announced to you that the number of gentlemen competitors de padel in France had exceeded the bar 50.000. In total, men and women combined, more than 58.115 competitors are listed throughout France.

But did you know that some of these competitors are players with similar rankings? And that they represent a significant part of the players competing in France!

What is an assimilated player?

A player assimilated to an official classification. He does not need to play a tournament to gain places in the rankings. For example, good-level Spanish players who want to play one or more tournaments in France, such as Mena or Zapata, have access to the FFT ranking. The federation is based on their FIP ranking. Generally, they are found between the 5e and 100e instead.

For former very good tennis players, the system is almost the same. We think of Emilie Loit, former tennis professional, assimilated 100e French.

The goal of assimilation is to do not distort a table.

The ever-increasing share of assimilated people

The number of assimilated people in France is breaking all records. In January 2024, there are no less than 7213 competitors who had the right to assimilation. A constantly growing number, from year to year.

In August 2022, the share of assimilated people in France represented 6% of competitors, men and women combined. In January 2024, we are at 12%. Their share has therefore doubled, in just under a year and a half!

It must be said that the number of competitors increases drastically every month and, added to this, a presence of former tennis players and'Spanish ever more important. The example of the Nationale 1 Interclubs which have been controversial recently are proof that more and more foreign players are interested in competing in France!

Gwenaelle Souyri

It was his brother who one day told him to accompany him on a track. padel, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the broadcast of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
