It's no longer a surprise to anyone, le padel is an emerging sport in full expansion which continues to seduce all over the world.

Le padel is a very addictive sport. Easier to play than tennis, more accessible also and above all, more friendly, this sport is popular. One of the big advantages du padel compared to tennis, remains the competition. Tournaments which are played, for amateurs, on a day, with several matches even if you lose in the first round. And especially, a good-natured spirit.

Men, always more present

For amateur players, the competition remains a warm moment, for a more playful purpose than anything else. So much so that today, the numbers are showing. In January 2024, the symbolic bar of 50.000 men’s competitors were exceeded. In total, counting the competitors, today we count 58.115 competitors!

Men represent 87% of competitors in France and the numbers continue to increase. In comparison, in January 2023, we only counted “only” 27.875 players competing. We are almost at 82% increase in 12 months!

On average, each month, +1881 players are entering the competition!

A significant lack of women

But if men today represent 87% of competitors, this also means that women do not even represent 15%. Proof, once again, that there is a crucial lack of female competitors.

If, as with the men, we can still note a significant evolution in the number of female competitors, it is experiencing a smaller increase.

So, of course, there are many more women who enter the competition, but they remain largely in the minority. The increase over one year is Present in several = 75%.

Unlike men, the number of new players competing is very low: + approximately 274 per month over a year.

In short, there is always more competitors in France et the craze continues to grow. Men arrive en masse in tournaments and women too… at a lower level.

Anyway, with this bar crossed, le padel is establishing itself even more as an essential sport in France.

Gwenaelle Souyri

It was his brother who one day told him to accompany him on a track. padel, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the broadcast of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
