This is the big day ! This Tuesday, the 2024 draft of the Pro Padel League will take place, with more 300 players who will find out if they have been selected to participate in the competition this year.

The draft is an important moment in the PPL, because it reproduces a system used in other major leagues in North America such as the NFL (American football), the MLB (baseball) and the NBA (basketball).

In addition to stars we've already talked about, 23 players will be chosen by the 10 teams which make up the American League.

Marcos del Pilar, co-founder and commissioner of the league based in North America, was very enthusiastic – and discreet – at the microphone of our colleague Lee McLaughlan : “I'm not allowed to release any names, but we are really happy and excited to have some of the best players in the world apply for the draft, both men's and women's. Just like last year, I received applications from over 20 different countries. This year it's pretty much the same. We have people applying from all over the world – Asia, the Middle East, Europe, of course, and from South and North America.” It is even rumored that there could be French people…

The commissioner also explains that all is not lost for those who will not be selected this Tuesday, thanks to a new system which comes into force in 2024:

“Last year, teams were allowed to pick only two players before the draft and everyone else had to be selected in that draft. However, given the incredible interest we have received from some of the top players already announced by certain teams, we have changed the approach to this year's draft. After the draft, it is possible that some teams have not completed their roster, so they may choose certain external players as free agents.

As a reminder, the 10 teams that make up the league in 2024 are as follows: Las Vegas Smash (reigning champions), Cancun Waves, Miami Padel Club, Flowrida Goats, San Diego Stingrays, Los Angeles Beat, Arkansas Matrix, Toronto Polar Bears, New York Atlantics and Houston Volts.

The order of the draft, which will take place this Tuesday at 21:00 p.m. French time:
