Yesterday was a very special day in Venezuela, as we witnessed a series of abandonments throughout the day. In fact, many players did not show up on the track, due to a health problem.
The champions of Mexico, Jensen/Castello, the Doha finalists, Yanguas/Garrido, Orsi/Lobo, Piltcher/Valenzuela… four teams who did not go to the field. Not counting Chozas/Campagnolo and Gonzalez/Lebron, who have abandoned during the game.
So, what's the problem? Adel Aref, the tournament director, communicated on this subject, late in the evening, to explain the reasons for these withdrawals "Following the abandonment of certain players due to stomach flu and other cases among players and staff, Premier Padel, Puerto Cabello Premier Padel P2 and the city of Puerto Cabello are providing the necessary health and medical care to those affected."
A stomach flu would therefore be the reason for all these abandonments. Several players are reportedly affected by the issue and are therefore supported.
For now, the quarter-final day is not impacted and all matches should be played. Furthermore, we are not immune to a new series of abandonments. The next few hours will tell us.
It was her brother who one day told her to accompany him to a padel court, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the retransmission of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
