An earthquake has just hit the world of padel professional: after months of negotiations, QSI has officially announced the acquisition of World Padel Tour (WPT). This acquisition comes at a time when the Damm group, its previous owner, had lost the confidence of the best players, who for the most part did not want to continue with it. We obviously remember that a few weeks ago Ale Galán announced the end of the WPT.

With the acquisition of World Padel Tour per QSI, many questions arise regarding the future of the organizers of the various WPT events, some of whom have supported this circuit for ten years.

For 2024, Premier Padel apparently provides 24 steps. The WPT having organized 27 events in 2023, we already know that three events will disappear. If we add to that the eight tournaments organized this season by Premier Padel, whose Greenweez Paris Major at Roland Garros – one of the four major tournaments – which will be renewed next season, we say to ourselves that the promoters of the tournaments of the World Padel Tour could have a maximum of 16 dates.

On the French side, one question remains: will we have one or more additional events on our soil ? And if so, in what form and where exactly?

The acquisition by QSI seems less motivated by the internal structure of the WPT, often criticized, than by its extensive network and its long-standing relationships with many promoters already in place and ready to launch new professional stages as early as 2024.

And if certain steps will obviously not be repeated by Premier Padel, others, such as Human Padel Open, might have an opportunity to continue. Indeed, we say that the official circuit of the FIP will try to offer a circuit less centered on Spain and therefore the competitions played in the countries where the padel emerges should more likely to continue.

Everything is changing very quickly, but one thing seems certain: the promoters who supported the World Padel Tour during all these years should not be the big losers of this evolution. Those who have been on the front line for a decade and made possible the professional stages we know today, should still have a role to play next season.
