After 114 days of famine, the professional circuit of padel, World Padel Tour announced the resumption of competition for June 28 in Madrid.

The appointment is made. It will be June 28 to July 5 at the Arena. Unless the last minute changes, the first 2 tournaments of the post COVID 19 WPT will be played in Madrid, The Arena a wise choice: It is a site particularly known in the world of sport in Madrid which will be able to accommodate several courts of padel. We could thus see the prepreavias, the previas and the final stages on the same site.

A splendid venue but one that should be played behind closed doors. For fans, don't panic, the World Padel Tour should offer live streaming for the final stages. If for the moment nothing has been communicated on this subject, actors from the world of padel fear that the World Padel Tour charge part of the streaming.

The reason is simple: we must bail out funds very hard hit by the health crisis. It is for the moment a persistent rumor, in particular in Spain. And the World Padel Tour has not yet commented on this subject. A subject that may have been addressed by the organizers of the WPT. But it is hard to imagine that this could be successful for many reasons.

First, is the public ready to pay? It is difficult to shake up habits and even more so when you have to pay after a crisis which has been hard for everyone ... And which is not over. Finally, the padel is a sport where watching a game has never paid off. We remember the finals of the European Championships Padel in Rome last November: Matches that were found live by a large channel… paying. Many fans had clearly come out against it.

The conditions are far from the same. And we may mistakenly anticipate that the wpt will not go that far.

On the French side, “we are ready”, Léa Godallier explained to us recently. Team France was particularly studious during this crisis by preparing physically. She might have a shot at surprising her world.

Finally, note that the World Padel Tour ahead of the ATP Tour in communication and the resumption of competitions. Was this done on purpose? Not necessarily because the resumption of the WPT circuit actually coincides with the resumption of Spanish football.

Hopefully this gives ideas in France…
