Paula Josemaria is a player of padel professional, nicknamed “Paulita” or “Dinamita”. Born October 31, 1996 in Moraleja, the left-hander is the current world number 1 alongside her teammate Ariana Sanchez, with whom she will remain forever the second most successful pair of the history of World Padel Tour.

Today, Paula is a must for Aficionados de padel. The Spanish is capable of anything on the ground, with his powerful smashes and his left paw.

His debut in the padel

Paula Josemaria started on padel from a young age and participated in numerous tournaments in Spain. It was only in 2014, at the age of 18, that she made her appearance on the only professional circuit: the World Padel Tour.

Until 2016, Paula combined padel and studies in biochemistry at the University of Extremadura. On the circuit, we could see her playing with a racket Siux and alongsideEsther Lasheras, which we find today on the Spanish veteran circuit.

She stood out on the circuit in 2018, playing alongside Valeria Pavón. It was not until the following year, however, that she won her first tournament title. With Ana Catarina Nogueira, Paula won the 2019 Madrid Masters. That same season, she reached three finals and began to really make a name for herself in the padel .

The Covid year and the changes of pairs

Paula Josemaria starts 2020 with a brand new partner: Marta Marrero Despite a title in Marbella to open the year and two finals, the pair did not last. The two players announced their separation on social networks before the end of the season.

At the same time, another pair separates: Gonzalez / Ortega. Martita joins Marta Marrero and Bea eventually joins forces with Paula Josemaria. Both players had a positive end to the season, including a final at Las Rozas.

Despite this, the two players decide to separate. It was at this moment that Paula Josemaria turned to a new partner with whom she would reach the heights: Ariana Sanchez.

Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez: the promise of a bright future

In their first tournament together, Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez reached the final. In the semi-final, they won in two sets against Lucia Sainz and Paula's former partner, Bea Gonzalez, 6/3 6/4.

In the final, they come up against those who have reigned for years over the World Padel Tour : Gemma Triay et Alejandra Salazar.

During this first season, Paula and Ari compete in no less than 10 finals and win 5 tournaments. At the end of the year, they finished on the second step of the podium, falling 1.170 points behind their great rivals Gemma and Ale.

The year 2022 is the year of revelation for Paula and Ari. The two players become almost unbeatable. They gain confidence and rise 18 times in the final in 21 tournaments. However, in these 18 finals, they fell almost every time against the Triay/Salazar pair. In 14 confrontations, Paula and Ariana lost to 10 times facing Gemma and Alejandra.

During the final of the Master Final 2022, in an epic match, Paula Josemaria and Ariana Sanchez lose their number 1 places, again against Alejandra Salazar and Gemma Triay. The frustration is immense for the two players who would have liked to end the season in a completely different way...

2023, the year of demonstration

The last season was that of demonstration. Paula and Ari came back stronger than ever. From the first tournaments, they finally managed to bring down their long-time opponents, Triay/Salazar.

The pair 100% Head crushes everything in its path, setting all records, stringing together victories and establishing itself as the pair of the year. Ale and Paula logically end the season on the first step of the podium.

It was his brother who one day told him to accompany him on a track. padel, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the broadcast of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
