Let's go for the final draw of the second tournament of World Padel Tour of the 2021 season: the Estrella Damm Alicante Open!

Leal / Semmler impress!

Third day of competition and already some surprises with of course the Leal / Semmler sensation !

Impressive in the morning against Cristian Gutierrez Albisu (36th) and Aday Santana (62nd) with a 6/3 6/3 victory, Miguel Semmler (102nd) et Francisco Javier Leal (136th), the young Spaniards did it again in the afternoon against Jorge Ruiz (53rd) and Diego Ramos (65th). A 6/3 - 6/2 victory which allows them to validate their ticket for the round of 16 of this Estrella Damm Alicante Open 2021. A huge performance for these players who started in the first round of the preprevias.

So they will play today from 09h salary. Uri Botello et Javi Ruiz, two players who occupy the 13th place in the world and who had not been able to play the first tournament of 2021 due to infection with Covid-19. The seed number 7 is warned, the young people are in good shape and they remain on 6 consecutive victories ... all in two sets what is more!

Second team qualified for the round of 16: the number 1 seed of the previas, Antonio Fernandez Cano (41st) et José Antonio Garcia (48th) who dominate Pedro Alonso Martinez (81st) and German Tamame (75th) 6/3 - 6/4.
The two Spaniards will face Juan Martin Diaz (35th) and his teammate Coki Nieto (21st).

In the same way we will find Jon Sanz Alba (68th) et  Aris Patiniotis (63rd) victorious 7/6 - 6/4 against the pair Anton Sans Riola (59th) - Iñigo Zaratiegui (61st), who, let us remember, had climbed to the quarter-finals in Madrid and therefore left favorites!
The Spanish-Argentinian pair will meet  Juan Cruz Belluati (26th) and Javi Garrido (38th) during the morning.

Finally, the last team to reach the top of the table, Rafael Mendez (56th) and Salvador Oria Ortega (72nd) who win at the end of a big fight against Marc Quilez (92nd) and Cristian G. Gutierrez (89th) : 6/4 - 4/6 - 6/3
The Spanish pair will have to arm themselves with courage because they will face the finalists of the last tournament, Alejandro Ruiz (17th) - Franco Stupazcuk (8th) during the second round this afternoon ...

Very big entry matches for men

Among the big matches of the day, we have of course Mati Diaz and Agustin Gomez Silingo, who were surprised in Madrid and who are going to want to set the record straight in Alicante. In front of them, the young Ramirez and Yanguas, who had created a surprise in the Spanish capital and who will not be against adding a seed to their hunting roster!

Miguel Yanguas

It will also be necessary to follow the beginnings of the two new pairs Allemandi / Lijo and Maxi Sanchez / Capra. In front of them two pairs not easy to negotiate: Fuster / Rubio and Alba / Gil.

The Lucas (Campagnolo and Bergamini), who got back together this season will have a very difficult first lap against Chingotto / Tello.

Also interesting, theclash between the Rico brothers during this first round. The left-hander Javi alongside Momo Gonzalez will start slightly favorite against his brother Jorge, who now plays with Ramiro Moyano.

The other matches:

  • Javier Martinez Vazquez - Augustin Gutierrez / Nacho Gadea - Victor Ruiz
  • Alvaro Cepero - Juani Mieres - Martin Piñeiro / Javier Gonzalez Barahona
  • Ernesto Moreno - Denis Tomas / Arturo Coello - Miguel Lamperti

For girls, everything remains to be determined

For the ladies, these are the previas finals taking place this morning, with 5 places for the main draw (there will be a Lucky Loser pair following the package of the Alayeto twins). Let's hope that the French Léa Godallier, associated with Ariadna Cañellas, will be one of those.

This afternoon begins the main draw with some very good matches in prospect as well. Eli Amatriain and Sofia Araujo will try to recover from a very unpredictable pair: Carla Mesa and Barbara Las Heras.

The picture has changed somewhat following the Alayeto withdrawal so that Delfi Brea and Tamara Icardo, Madrid's big satisfaction in the girls' category, will face the Lucky Losers. One of the shocks of the day will obviously be the match between Navarro / Nogueira and Osoro / Iglesias!

Patty Llaguno and Virginia Riera could be surprised by Alba Galan and Mari Carment Villalba. Finally, the Frenchwoman Alix Collombon and her partner Jessica Castello will be opposed Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga. In case of victory, they will face Bea Gonzalez and Lucia Sainz again in the eighth!

A beautiful spectacle still in perspective!
