There have been big pair changes during this offseason on the World Padel Tour, and we expect a lot from this new pair: Agustin Tapia and Pablo Lima.

Tapia returns to the left

In the opinion of many, the presence of Agustin Tapia on the right of Fernando Belasteguin was a mess. Back on his favorite side, this player capable of covering a lot of ground will be able to show off your exceptional technical background, and his extraordinary finishing capacity.

On paper, the pair he forms with Pablo Lima could not be more complementary. The youth and ardor of Tapia, 21, will be able to express themselves at best alongside the strength and experience of Pablo Lima, the player who has played the most games on the WPT (430).

Lima back to its best?

When playing at his best, Pablo Lima is an impressive player. With his steel mind, the “cannon of Porto Alegre” is able to chain games without making a mistake, disturbing his opponents with his heavy balls, his millimeter grid smash and his dazzling par 3s.

After a first tournament started in the most beautiful way in 2020, the Brazilian did not meet the expected success thereafter. In lack of consistency with Paquito Navarro after confinement, he then experienced some personal problems. Contaminated by Covid-19, then absent from the Master Final due to a calf injury, he didn't really have the opportunity to perform at his best during this pandemic year.

A pair that will play the leading roles

Serial number 3 to start the season, this pair will undoubtedly be among the very best. At 34, Pablo Lima is still in the prime of his life, he is an unparalleled competitor, and he work hard to regain physical fullness. It seems obvious to us that it will be at the top of the recovery, with overwhelming motivation.

In the same style as his former teammate Fernando Belasteguin, the Brazilian will have a role of mentor with Agustin Tapia, to whom he will pass on all his experience. Tapia being an incredible finisher, Lima will surely take on all of the construction work to allow his young partner to have favorable balls to play. With their rather calm temperaments, these two taciturns should get along wonderfully on the pitch!

This right-handed / left-handed pair seems really very complementary, complete and it will give headaches to all the other pairs of the WPT. If today Galan and Lebron seem to be one step ahead of everyone, and Tello / Chingotto have the advantage of continuity, Lima and Tapia may be the strongest of the recently formed pairs! We can't wait to see them at work on the track, just like Belasteguin / Gutierrez, or even Navarro / Di Nenno!
