This Saturday afternoon, the second women's semi-final of this WPT Málaga Open. The poster was more than attractive because we were entitled to a match between Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria à their executioners from last week Delfina Brea and Beatriz González.

Indeed, the numbers 1 were thirsty for revenge and it was with a knife between their teeth that they made their entrance on the track. On the other side of the 20×10, it was the “Superpibas” who had come back to full strength and who came back once again with a single objective: to qualify for a new final.

The Superpibas in difficulty

The start of the game turns quickly to the advantage of the two Spaniards. More incisive and serene, they were able to put the pressure on, surely already very present at Bea, who, let's remember, plays at home in Andalusia. Despite pain in her tendons, Paula Josémaria played well strategically by pounding the Andalusian. Very quickly, the numbers 1 managed to take off on the score counter (3/0).

This slow track does not favor the Brea / Gonzalez pair whose smashes are less effective. Despite the encouragement of her partner, Beatriz struggled to get back into the match but it was on a great break point saved that the Hispano-Argentinian pair found a smile (3/1). A new opportunity to unbreak presented itself to the pair Gonzalez / Brea on a new golden point: after a long exchange, Bea ends up unfortunately putting the ball in the net. Nevertheless, we could notice that Bea Gonzalez was playing better and gradually coming back into her game. Not enough for “las Superpibas” who saw themselves led (5/2).

After their return from the bench, the numbers 1 wanted to speed up the game to leave with this first round. But Bea and Delfi hadn't said their last word and were counting on tickling Ari and Paula. Under the cheers of the public who came en masse to support their champion, Bea took advantage of the new balls to slam a magnificent par 3 as she knows how to do so well. The two young players thus managed to return to 3/5. However, the two Spaniards were very solid and left little room, committing very few faults. Their regularity paid off and they won in this first set 6/3.

Numbers 1 without pity

The second round sounded like the first. The native of Reus and her partner continued to put pressure on their rivals and kept pushing them to fault. Paula Josémaria was intractable in her diagonal, leaving little chance to Argentina. Destabilized, the latter and her teammate were surprised at the start of this second set, not winning any points (2/0).

Impregnable the numbers 1 did not flinch on the track and put an extra effort, shaving everything in their path. The Spanish steamroller got the better of Bea Gonzalez and Delfi Brea this time around. Technically flawless, the queens of the circuit managed to strike a blow to the morale of their opponents and crush them to join Gemma Triay and Marta Ortega in the final of this Malaga Open.

Final score: 6/3 – 6/2.

Now it's time for the second men's semi-final which will pit Agustin Tapia / Arturo Coello against Jon Sanz and Coki Nieto.
