It was under a blazing sun that the second semi-final of the WPT Marbella Master. After the victory of the numbers 1 against Paquito Navarro and Federico Chingotto, it was the turn of four other great players to enter the arena. On one side we had pair number 3 consisting of Franco Stupaczuk et Martin Di Nenno, on the other the formidable sanyo gutierrez et Momo Gonzalez. The latter, who plays at home, has offered a very high level of play since the start of the competition, offering us in particular a point that some have not hesitated to baptize “point of the century”.

These two teams met for the third time and each time, like Momo and Sanyo's veritable beast, the "Superpibes" emerged victorious from these clashes. Was the “curse” of the Spanish-Argentine pair going to continue this Saturday evening?

Argentinians hit hard

Driven by the cries of his supporters, the Andalusian and his partner Sanyo were keen to give everything from the start of the match in order to take the advantage as quickly as possible. In line with previous clashes, it was their opponents of the day who were able to take advantage of their strategy and thus manhandle the Hispano-Argentinian duo. In this 20×10 so much challenged by players, we could see a very regular Martin Di Nenno and an intractable “Stupa”. Pozzoni's players didn't do anything wrong and won the first set fairly quickly with a score of 6/3.

Momo and Sanyo have not said their last word

Stung to the quick, the native of Antequera and “el Mago de San Luis” went into overdrive at the start of the second round to take the advantage over their rivals. Following a “punto de oro” on Momo Gonzalez's serve, the two players managed to widen the gap. But it was without counting on the ferocity of the pair number 3 which did not let go and which knew how to pick up again, giving a hard time to Momo and Sanyo who ended up all the same by concluding this second round and by offering themselves an extra breath of fresh air and another chance to snatch a ticket to the final.

This time it's the right one!

The last round of this game promised to be breathless given the level of play displayed on the field. The two teams still went blow for blow and it was after 2h15 of play that Momo Gonzalez and Sanyo Gutierrez were able to win and qualify for their second final in three weeks!

Thanks to this success 4/6 – 7/5 – 6/4, the child of the country and his partner will meet this Sunday with Agustin Tapia and Arturo Coello for an unprecedented final! Will they manage to break the incredible winning streak of the numbers 1?
