The association between Juani Mieres and Javi Garrido, however promising on paper, clearly does not seem to work on the World Padel Tour.

At first glance, the association between Juani Mieres, 39 years old, 252 games won on the World Padel Tour, and Javi Garrido, a 19-year-old with potential, who has already made 164 WPT appearances despite his young age, looked interesting.

This pair, which therefore mixes experience and youth, had the stated objective of joining the fight to finish in the top eight teams and compete for the master at the end of the year. Except that the start of the season for the 13th and 25th players in the world is really not up to their expectations...

That had very bad start in Marbella, by a defeat without appeal in the first round of the Marbella Master (1/6 4/6) against Maxi Grabiel and Antonio Fernández Cano, who did not not won a match since, even in previas... Juani and Javi had a little corrected the shot during the Estrella Damm Open, winning their first round against Santana / Rubio, before losing in a balanced game against Ruiz / Botello.

This victory will remain for the time being the only one of the Mieres / Garrido pair in 2020, since the two men lost in the first round of the Vuelve A Madrid Open, against Ruben Rivera and Toni Bueno, and they have lost again this morning at the Adeslas Open, still in the first round. A defeat again in straight sets, against Allemandi / Gonzalez (2/6 6/7), which will not reassure them.

The end of the games behind closed doors at the Madrid Arena could be psychologically good for this pair, unless they already decide to go their separate ways… to be continued!
