Your September Snowshoe Zoom, by Régis Monnerie from Padel XP, shines its magnifying glass on the Spanish brand Nox, with its flagship AT10 Genius range, developed with and for the Argentinian genius Agustín Tapia.

What are the differences between the models and above all what gaming sensations to expect from each of them? Which is best for your game? Let's see it all together.

Miguel Lamperti and Agustín Tapia, the stars of Nox!

Nox is a Spanish brand created in 2008, based near Barcelona, which has established itself in a few years as one of the most prestigious, thanks to the high quality of its products and its technical innovations.

The integration in 2010 of the Argentinian player Miguel Lamperti within the brand was a key to its development. The ML10 range also bears the signature of the charismatic Argentinian.

Nox has also been equipping its young compatriot, the phenomenon Agustín Tapia, for a few years now, who has his own Nox range with the AT10 Luxury Genius series.

Four main models

The AT10 Luxury Genius range by Agustín Tapia, which sits at the top of the Nox range, consists of four main models, including a limited edition:

  • The AT10 Genius Arena (12k)
  • The AT10 Genius 18k
  • The AT10 Genius Attack 18k
  • The Limited Edition AT Genius LTD (AT.2) Pack

Three of the four Nox AT10s are balanced all-around teardrop racquets. The exception is the AT10 Attack which is a more powerful, diamond-shaped version with overhead weight balance.

We note the disappearance of the AT10 Genius Hard, version of the AT10 Genius Arena (12k) with a denser Eva Black Multilayered rubber core, for a more rigid model. This pala is actually replaced in September 2022 by the AT Genius LTD pack, also equipped with Eva Black rubber, but with 18k carbon coating.

We voluntarily exclude the AT10 Genius Junior and Ultra Light models, junior and child versions derived from the AT10, even if they are clearly likely to appeal to young fans of the Argentine player.

AT10 and ML10, notable differences

The AT10s stand out quite clearly from Miguel Lamperti's ML10 range which offers round shaped, low balance control racquets. Only the ML10 Luxury Bahia model comes close to the AT10s with its teardrop shape and medium weight balance that make it a versatile racket, like those of Tapia.

The Nox MM2 Pro, designed by Spanish coach Manu Martín, can be positioned between the AT10 and ML10 ranges, due to its hybrid shape, an original mix of teardrop, round and diamond shapes, and its medium-neck balance. which make it a versatile but clearly control-oriented racquet. The ''Padel Hunter'' Stéphane Penso will soon tell you more about this model in a dedicated article.

Features common to all AT 10s

Let's go back to the AT10s and the features they have in common.

All AT10s are built in carbon, on a 100% carbon frame, with carbon coating on the faces.

They all have either the Eva HR3 Core rubber core common to most Nox racquets, a denser rubber than Eva Soft, or a multi-layered Eva Black foam core, made up of an overlay of soft rubber and dense rubber, or 100% Eva Black rubber, which is the densest of the three.

They also integrate all the technologies developed by Nox:

  • Dynamic Composit Structure : manufacturing process reinforcing the materials from the surface to the interior of the structure in order to solidify and stiffen it.
  • AVS system : vibration absorption system protecting your arm and joints.
  • Rough surface : rough finish with silica sand accentuating the effects.
  • Oversized Grip : longer handle for a better grip, ideal for players who like to hold their racket with two hands.
  • smartstrap : new 2022 technology exclusive to Nox allowing you to change the strap of your racquet.

AT10 Genius Arena

The base AT10 model is the AT10 Genius Arena, a medium-balanced teardrop-shaped racquet, made with an Eva HR3 Core rubber core and a 12k carbon cover.

AT10 LUXURY GENIUS ARENA 2022 BY AGUSTÍN TAPIA

It is a perfectly versatile racket, suitable for many types of games, which explains its great success.

Its handling is easy, we are immediately at ease, and we find ourselves there both in attack and in defense, thanks to an unfailing versatility.

AT 10 Genius 18k

The AT10 Genius 18k is exactly the same racquet with an 18k carbon coating, which provides more rigidity and hardens the touch by providing more response at ball impact, therefore providing drier shots.

AT10 LUXURY GENIUS ARENA 2022 of AGUSTÍN TAPIA

It therefore offers more power but also more precision thanks to its hardness, while being more demanding for the player's technique.

FYI, it's the 18k model that Agustín Tapia uses most of the time, with racquets weighing 377 grams.

The AT10 12k gives you more flexibility, less hardness and stiffness, while providing more ball output. It is more affordable and easier to understand.

The AT10 Genius Hard was also the same basic racquet as the AT10 Genius Arena 12k, but with an Eva Black Multilayered rubber core that stiffened the racquet even a bit more than the 18k model.

AT Genius LTD Limited Edition (AT.2)

NOX AT LTD 2022 TAPIA

From the start of the 2022 school year, Nox is offering a limited edition of the AT10, the AT Genius LTD Limited Edition (AT.2) which also goes all the way in the process of toughening up the model by giving it a more offensive profile and powerful. Indeed, the AT Genius LTD pack offers an AT.2 racquet that retains the teardrop shape and medium balance of the AT10 model, but with both an Eva Black rubber core, the densest possible at Nox ( denser than the Eva Black Multilayered), for more control and power with increased stress on the arm, and the 18k carbon coating which hardens the touch.

This is the culmination of the process of making this version of the AT10 a versatile racket totally focused on power, even more than the AT10 Genius 18k used by Agustín Tapia.

AT10 Genius Attack

The AT10 Genius Attack, on the other hand, represents the powerful and attacking version of the AT10, in diamond shape, with weight balance at the head of the racquet to weigh down your shots and hit par 3. It is clearly a racquet of attack, especially since it incorporates an 18k carbon coating. But the fact that it retains the classic Nox core in Eva HR3 Core rubber gives it a little less hardness and more flexibility than 100% powerful racquets with dense or even hard rubber (such as the Adidas Adipower 3.1, the Bullpadel Vertex 03 or the Babolat Technical Viper).

For your information, the Nox Nerbo WPT model has similar characteristics to this AT10 Attack but with a denser multilayered Eva Black rubber core, which makes it an even more powerful racquet that can interest hitters keen on par 3 smashes.

Conclusion

Thus, the Nox AT10 offer you several versions of versatile rackets. The AT10 Genius Arena 12k represents the version of the AT10 that will suit most people because of its perfect versatility between power and control. But the 18k derivative versions, Attack and AT Genius LTD, offer you an interesting range of choices clearly oriented towards power and attack.
