Jérôme Bécasset and Jean-Marc Herard will carry out daily a zoom on a league and its representatives for the French championships of padel au Padel Lyon Club (Padel Central).  The Dauphiné Savoie league is under siege.

1 / Fitness trail

Jean Charles COLAS-ROY (JCCR): I started tennis around 7-8 years old and I have been playing for fun and in competition for thirty years. I am ranked 15 and I am licensed at GUC Tennis, in Grenoble.

Alexandre PERILHON (AP): I have been playing tennis since I was 9 and I am currently ranked 2/6. I have played Badminton a lot and also tried Beach Tennis this year.

2 / The discovery of Padel

JCCR: I discovered the PADEL a little over a year ago. It was by chance that we decided to try tennis with a few friends and we immediately appreciated the friendliness and playfulness of this sport.

AP: I discovered the padel last summer (2014) thanks to my partner Jean-Charles and I immediately became addicted.

3 / Experience and Goals

JCCR: We play regularly for fun. Sometimes we play games that can exceed 3 hours of play. The fun wins over the fatigue! We now want to do some competitions to test our level and compete against other pairs, outside the region.

AP: Since the discovery of padel I play regularly, 1 to 2 times a week takes a lot of fun. I hope to progress, and to face new players, because we often play against the same opponents in Grenoble.

4 / Which club?

JCCR AND AP: Our tennis club is GUC tennis and we play PADEL at Echirolles foottime.

5 / Your partner?

JCCR: I've been playing regularly for a year with my partner, Alexandre PERILHON. In addition to his physical and technical qualities which make him an outstanding defender, I appreciate above all his good humor.

AP: We have been playing together for 1 year but we are often opposed on the pitch. I chose him because I get on well with him off the court. On the court it is quite simply an extraterrestrial: the point is never finished, it is everywhere, and I can rest at times!

6 / Course during the regional qualifications

JCCR: There are few PADEL in our league so we had a qualifying match against another experienced pair. On paper, we had the same tennis rankings and we managed to win in a fairly balanced match.

AP: We only had to play one match that we won despite the stress due to the immense desire to participate in this French championship!

7 / Ambitions and prognosis for the finals

JCCR: Try to go as far as possible but above all share good times with the other teams. During and outside matches, in contact with other pairs, it will also be a way of calibrating ourselves and learning to progress. We don't know the other teams yet, so there is no particular fear or ambition. In addition to the opponents, the discovery of a new surface and the management of several days of competition will be a real challenge. My favorites: the teams from the South-West who are certainly very experienced.

AP: We are totally in the unknown and do not know the level of the other teams. I hope we will be able to perform well!

8 / Message for opponents

JCCR: Good luck and see you in Lyon to have a good time, on and off the courts.

AP: Good luck everyone!
