This Sunday afternoon near Verbier, a pretty little town nestled at the foot of the Swiss Alps, the grand finale of theA1 Padel Master.

The meeting opposed the redoubtable Leonel Aguirre and Adrian Allemandi to the competition's surprise pair, Gonzalo Alfonso and Juani De Pascual. A little before kick-off, we asked you on Instagram which of these two pairs would emerge victorious from the confrontation. And unsurprisingly, 62% of you saw Tito and Tolito bring home the cup. However, the outcome of the match was quite different because it was the two young Argentines who, in just two sets, overcame pair number 2.

An unexpected fix

From the start of the game, Gonzalo Alfonso and his partner did not tremble, manhandling a Tolito Aguirre and a Tito Allemandi completely lost on the 20×10. The latter did not manage to find their rhythm throughout the first set, accumulating too many faults and offering many opportunities to their young opponents. The more time passed, the more the first round turned to punishment for the pair number 2 in the standings. Very solid and imperturbable, De Pascual and Alfonso unroll an almost perfect score leaving the audience speechless and thus creating a surprise during this final.

Insufficient effort

Abused throughout the first round, the Aguirre / Allemandi pair did not say their last word for all that. Frowning and knife between their teeth, the two Argentinians come back from the break more motivated than ever to reset the counters. Better on their legs than in the previous minutes, the two friends are gradually finding a cruising speed which allows them to regain confidence. Points earned accumulate and morale returns. But the task is not easy because opposite, the young Gonzalo and Juan are thirsty for victory. After an excellent course during this Master, they absolutely do not intend to fall within a few points of the final victory. This is how an arduous battle takes place on this Verbier track between the four protagonists. The two teams kept on going blow for blow and it was after elbow to elbow lasting more than an hour that the two pairs faced off in a last intense tie break. Despite their efforts, it was not enough for Tito and Tolito who failed to seize their chance.

Final score: 6/1 - 7/6 for the De Pascual / Alfonso pair.
