We interviewed Alex Ruiz, 14th player in the WPT ranking, as the Human started Padel Open.

You played on the track, how do you feel here?

“The court is a bit new again, I think it was set up a few hours ago, so at the moment it's a bit slow. I think the tournament will not be as slow as expected, given the feelings we had. The ball is already flying a little more, which may favor offensive plays, but it's a very good court and a very beautiful and very large stadium. Let's hope that the French public will fill this stadium, so that we can enjoy the French atmosphere.”

What do you think of Toulouse and France?

“I've only been there once, last year when I didn't have much time to visit the city, but it looks like a very nice city, very big and the people are friendly. I know Bastien (Blanqué) who comes from here, so if they are all like him, they will be very good people. I hope to have more time this year to visit.”

Finally, do you know a bit of the French language?

“I studied French in primary school and I was doing well but I lost it very quickly when I went to Madrid because I didn't practice it anymore. I remember a few words like Hello, How are you, my name is Alex, and little things like that.”

This Thursday from 15 p.m., Alex Ruiz and his partner Juan Tello will be opposed on court n°3 to Mario Ortega and Carlos Marti.

After being rocked by tennis for nearly 15 years, I became an absolute fan of its cousin, the padel. For nearly a year now, I've been chasing the little yellow ball with another racquet, but with just as much passion! Based in Lyon, I intend to make you better acquainted with the padel in the region and at the national level.
