For the first edition of the Cupra Padel-Point Tour 2023, Padel Magazine talked with Alice of Caunes, project manager of the event.

At our microphone, she confided behind the scenes of the competition.

A titanic job

It's 48 hours of work, or even more, to set up an event like this. The main goal is really that amateur players feel like real professionals. We therefore make every effort to create a real professional tournament atmosphere of padel. This therefore involves a lot of preparation in advance. It's weeks, even months of searching for partners.

When an event is planned, we are already there the day before since we have almost half a full day of assembly. Fortunately we have a great team, we are five in total. We arrive in clubs and we take care of everything. In fact, clubs are transformed in just a few hours. We make sure that our partners are as visible as possible.

All that takes a long time to get after a great one-day event where all the players really feel like pros.

A whole event

What surprises many players when they arrive is that they are automatically given a Welcome Pack with a lot of gifts inside: water bottles, discount coupons...

Then they are invited to do their tournament. Around the tournament, there are quite a few activities set up such as small games of ping-pong, indoor petanque, Cupra simulators. We really have something to keep them busy while waiting for matches.

During the afternoon, we have various activities planned. We also bring in professional players who participate in an exhibition match and who also trade with amateurs. It's really great because they can do mini-matches against players from the French top 10 with whom they would never have had the opportunity to play. This is truly a unique event for amateur gamerss !
