Back on the interview with Alix Collombon, 30th player at the World Padel Tour of May 4 in the Face-to-Face Live on Instagram.

  • His debut in the padel

After quitting tennis in 2014, I started tennis padel in 2015/2016. When I met Robin Haziza, I understood that it was necessary to participate in the French championships, with the objective of finishing in the first 4 pairs in order to be selected for the worlds. The first French championships were complicated but we still managed to qualify. (Editor's note: for more details on this period do not hesitate to take a look at the interview of his lifelong partner in France: Jessica Ginier).

When I stopped playing tennis I started playing football. It was a pleasure, as a big football fan. I needed to continue playing sports after I stopped playing tennis and I enjoyed discovering a collective sport. I played there until 2017.

  • His beginnings in Spain

I was lucky to start with a good partner from the start. Sara Pujals at the time was a table player. She saw that I had potential and that we could do something good together. The year we spent together was great because we got along very well.

  • From Sara Pujals to Nicole Traviesa

This separation was my biggest slap, I did not expect it. We were very friends. Basically it was her choice because she was better ranked than me at that time with a lot of experience, she came out of a great season. I accepted because we know that this is part of the game.

The year 2019 was very complicated for Sara while for me it was very good. Juan Alday had told me that he saw this change positively. He said that Nicole was coming out of a very good season, he told me that I would have a role as a leader on the team, like a player who makes decisions. During my first season with Sara I relied a lot on her, I hid myself a little too much with my lack of experience.

  • A new partner in the future?

The first 7/8 pairs are untouchable, not to mention that there are girls who are in a relationship in everyday life. This leaves even less room. The players of my level are between 22nd and 30th place. Besides that I need a player playing on the left because I play on the right, this limits the options.

  • Training during confinement

I have a physical program to follow since the first day of confinement. I do 2 hours of sports a day, 3 hours when I'm in good shape! I also train with my mental trainer who is Spanish, we call each other every week. She helps me a lot during this period which is complicated for everyone. The goal of our work is to arrive as fresh as possible for the resumption of competition.

With my two roommates, we try to find a little fun, fun exercises with the racket to keep in touch with it.

A new announcement will be made tomorrow by the Spanish government. I continue my program as well as my routines.

  • Alix and Jess: the invincible pair

We never get tired of winning with Jess. It creates a kind of locomotive. All the pairs in France aim to beat us and we aim to win, it's as simple as that. Whenever I come back to France I take great pleasure it doesn't cost me to come back at all.

Jessica has an extraordinary physique, she has incredible adaptability. She always plays better in the final than in the first round, her level evolves as matches in a tournament!
