At the end of last season, we had noticed a surge of injuries on the professional circuit, proof that the organizations were at the end of their strength. It must be said that the players played on two circuits: Premier Padel et World Padel Tour. This year, with the takeover of the WPT and the reduction in the number of tournaments, we envisaged a more sustainable pace for the players.

However, despite a single circuit, the various stages multiply around the Premier Padel : Hexagon Cup, Reserve Padel, Ultimate Padel Tour, Pro Padel League…not counting the world championships which will take place this year.

If, indeed, the number of tournaments on the Premier Padel seems reasonable, players no longer expect to play on a single circuit. Opportunities are flooding around them and players no longer hesitate to play elsewhere. The call of competition? Profit? A bit of both ? No matter, the truth is that today, players do not do 25 tournaments year round.

Yes but here we are, it's only March and the first injury is already there: that of Jon Sanz. Of course, we still do not know the seriousness of this injury but it may raise questions for the end of the season. If certain organisms are already giving up, what should we expect in December?

If some players, like Franco Stupaczuk, prefer to settle for a single circuit, this will clearly not be the case for everyone. As a result, organisms risk becoming exhausted very quickly. So we'll see what happens this season and the consequences it could have.

Anyway, we hope that Jon Sanz's injury is not serious.

Gwenaelle Souyri

It was his brother who one day told him to accompany him on a track. padel, since then, Gwenaëlle has never left the court. Except when it comes to going to watch the broadcast of Padel Magazine, World Padel Tour… or Premier Padel…or the French Championships. In short, she is a fan of this sport.
