Carla Touly and Maaike Betz failed to create the small surprise of the tournament during the FIP Rise Copa Rotterdam against the number 2 seed, Helena Wyckaert and An Sophie Mestach.

Carla Touly looks back on her match in Rotterdam by analyzing her match:

“It was really a very good match despite the defeat. I feel like my game is improving and I see a lot of progress. It is most encouraging. What we lacked against this excellent Belgian pair was the gold points. Of the 5 obtained, we only converted one. Obviously, at the end of the match, it costs a lot. This match was decided by few things.

In the second set, we led 3/1, but we couldn't get away from it. They have been very solid and consistent. We were, on the other hand, a little irregular in our game, alternating very good passages and moments with too many errors. In the end, the most consistent won.

My revenge against Helena didn't happen this time, but I can't wait to see her again, because I'm convinced that the next one will be for me. We are talking about the first Belgian pair, and they play really very well. I am happy to get closer and closer to their level. To beat them, you have to be ready to put 10 balls in the court.

I am motivated and in good shape for the French championships next weekend.”
